Obverse
Martin Jennings, the designer of the Obverse of the coin, has depicted a left profile effigy of King Charles III. This effigy is designed with intricate details and accuracy, catering to the legacy and security features of the British Royal Mint. The depiction of King Charles III without the crown is said to be the King's personal choice to be depicted as a normal human being. Other inscriptions on the coin are, “CHARLES III. D. G. REX. F. D. 100 POUNDS”.
Reverse
The Reverse of the coin, designed by Philip Nathan, is called the classic Standing Britannia. This portrayal of Britannia was inspired by the maritime stories and the power and legacy of Great Britain to defend its shores. Britannia holds a trident in one hand, a shield, and an olive branch in the other. Apart from the innovative security features, the small inscriptions on the inner layer of the design reading “DECUS ET TETANUS,” meaning “and ornament and a safeguard” are visible.
