The Mexican Mint introduced the Gold Libertad Series in 1981. Though this initial release turned out to be the only issue of the coins until 1991, the 1981 series saw the release of three weights. The 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz coins were the only options that year. The 1981 release also saw the three highest mintages in the history of the series, with the 1/4 oz Gold Libertad selling 313,000 units in total. This is second only to the 1981 release of the 1 oz Gold Libertad. All of these 2022 1/4 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are available to you for purchase online in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed in individual protective flips for delivery. Though the 1/4 oz Gold Libertad holds the second-highest mintage in the series, the coin is now often one of the lowest minted in the series.
The record lows in the series for this weight came in 2003 and 2008 when just 300 gold coins were sold in the 1/4 oz Gold Libertad Series. On the obverse of 2022 Mexican Gold Libertad Coin, you will find the coat of arms of Mexico. The national seal features a golden eagle in left-profile relief with raised wings. The eagle uses its talons and beak to battle a serpent from its perch on a prickly pear cactus. There is an oak-and-laurel wreath beneath the seal and the nation of issue is noted above. The reverse side of the 2022 1/4 oz Gold Libertad Coin comes with the statue of Winged Victory. This statue was sculpted in 1910 to honor the centennial of the nation’s independence movement. In 1921, it was moved to the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column, a monument built in 1921 to honor the centennial of the nation’s independence.
