The Great Engravers Collection continues with the Three Graces, a piece inspired by William Wyon RA’s original 1817 design of the same name. Daniel Thorne, a member of The Royal Mint’s Product Design team, brings Wyon’s masterpiece to a new format and audience in a respectful homage to the original. Originally minted as an uncirculated silver proof coin in the year 1817, the Three Graces are Zeus daughters envisioned to represent the three nations of the United Kingdom: England, Scotland, and Ireland. The great engravers of the coinage of the past painstakingly produced timeless masterpieces no less important to world history than those of the master painters and sculptors of their period. This 2022 Britain The Great Engravers Collection: Three Graces 100 oz Silver Bar is a remarkably fine contemporary interpretation by Daniel Thorne of the timeless work of master engraver William Wyon RA, who produced the original design under Queen Victoria's reign.
The obverse of the bar displays the Royal Mint name and logo. Inscriptions are "100 oz . 999.9 . FINE SILVER." The reverse features a modern homage to William Wyon RA's Three Graces design by the product designer Daniel Thorne. William Wyon RA is considered one of the greatest engravers in the history of the Royal Mint and created the Three Graces design early in his life and renowned career.
